Media and communications work
Rutgers International - commissioned to write a series of stories to coincide with the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) 2022 on scaling up in CSE, improving CSE for young people, new models in SRHR, and involving young people in abortion research in Kenya.
NGO Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) - media placement includes pieces with global news agencies AFP and AP, which went onto be syndicated with The Washington Post (see below), ABC news in the US, France 24, Radio France International (RFI), Globe and Mail, New Vision Uganda, and many more (text, photos and videos), after conducting media field visits. Other coverage of the same project was picked up by German agency DW and IPS. Separate coverage of different project featured with AFP News Agency, photos and a text story syndicated around the world and featured in outlets including The Guardian and Al Jazeera, German press agency DW, Radio France International (RFI), Al Jazeera, and Third Pole Nepal, among others. Also ghostwrote an op-ed for Euractiv, among other media coverage and placement.
Cape Town Office (CTO) - ghostwrote an op-ed on the benefits of using co-working spaces as part of a hybrid model, published on South Africa's BizCommunity
Transparency International Australia (TIA) - worked on a short-term consultancy finding and writing stories about gender, working with Chapters in Africa and Cambodia, across different teams and timezones with a short turnaround.
Equal International - worked on the press announcement of the Ford Foundation's partnership and endorsement of the niche consultancy group's Global Public Investment (GPI) approach.
Mercy Corps - helped write an op-ed to coincide with the G7.
Aidsfonds International - worked on the launch of the Fast track of Off track report for this Dutch HIV NGO, placing stories with Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) and Radio France International (RFI), which were syndicated all around the world and published with hundreds of outlets, as well as Telegraph UK and Bhekisisa South Africa.
New Markets Media and Intelligence, London - placed a piece with Al Jazeera and ghostwrote two pieces that were placed with the Financial Times.
Innovation for Change (I4C) - worked on a nine-month consultancy for I4C who are curated by international civil society group CIVICUS, during which time a piece that I ghostwrote was published with the Atlantic Council, another with Rights CoLab, and I also placed another with STEPPE in Russia. Other pieces can be seen here. I also wrote factsheets for donors including TIDES and Counterpart International and conducted interviews with activists on co-design methodology for the publication of a playbook.
African Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF), Kenya - wrote a piece for their COVID-19 response and interviewed and wrote about their women-led businesses in another piece.
Macadamia Conservation Trust (MCT), Australia - wrote two press releases and supplied media contacts for a story which was published nationally across Australia with The Australian and other outlets and also in the UK, one of which contributed to opening negotiations between a state government and the charity over the post-bushfire management of a national park.
CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation (found, researched, wrote, planned, edited and commissioned 28 stories for the 25 years anniversary series to mark the organisation's 25th anniversary. Liaised with stakeholders including the Secretary General and the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association. Helped media advisors place stories. Wrote and edited testimonials. Presented workshops at a workshop for communications officers from NGOs from all across Africa. Wrote a press release for the launch of the Gates Goalkeepers Youth Action Accelerator report and developed a social media toolkit which resulted in over 2,000 applications for the fund.
Just Peoples, Australia and New Zealand - supplied media contacts and wrote a press release for Menstrual Hygiene Day as part of their COVID-19 response which was published by the Healthcare Channel, Australia’s premier resource of information for healthcare.
Aide et Action Cambodia - travelled with staff around provinces, taking photos and interviewing children for stories published with Oryx, the Qatar Airlines magazine.
Media Projects Inc - put together a press kit for the organisation, which has helped them secure screenings, including one at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto in 2020.

Activate Uganda sports event management, Uganda - handled social media and grew their followers by hundreds, created short videos, proofread a press release and pitched a placed a story in the lead-up to their main event the Source of the Nile, the first ultra trail marathon in Uganda, in Trail Running UK magazine.
Peripheral Vision International (PVI) Media, east Africa - wrote scripts for short films and found and interviewed case studies for their projects in east Africa for promotional use.
Cardinal Spin communications agency Sydney, Australia - helped with media for the 40th Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, which included identifying story angles, successfully placing stories with Sydney and national media such as ABC, media check-in at a pre-parade press conference, and on the day of the parade itself.
Kids Club Kampala - nominated the charity for an award with Cosmopolitan UK magazine which they won and resulted in increased visibility. Advised on story angles and media placement.
Child's i Foundation, Uganda - edited an annual report, assisted with social media, media placement of stories, and assisted with set-up at their annual ball.
London Legacy - helped with media outreach, placing stories in the Australian media in London, and volunteering as a fundraiser at their annual ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies for the Australian branch of the UK charity.
Terrence Higgins Trust - volunteered in their London press office, doing news monitoring.
I've also volunteered for Crisis at Christmas in London three years in a row, quickly building and maintaining rapport with homeless people at their rough sleepers centre in the Docklands.
